چکیده

Abstract Female sex steroid hormones have been shown to interact with cytokines within the immune system help influence fertility. Previous research has indicated that shifts in commensal bacteria are associated compromised reproductive performance during postpartum period, yet evaluation of how female hormone progesterone (P4) influences these microbial is not fully understood. The objectives this study were determine 1) relationship between P4 concentrations and cytokine concentrations, 2) microbiome. Twenty Bos indicus-influenced beef cows (~60 days free health issues) weighed, body condition scored then subjected indicus prostaglandin 5 day (d) + CIDR protocol beginning on d -8 timed artificially inseminated 0. Blood samples collected d-3, -1, 0, 28. Cytokines microbiome evaluated using vaginal uterine flushes -3 d-1. Experimental groups assigned by 28 pregnancy status, determined transrectal ultrasonography, resulting Open (n = 13) Pregnant 7) females. Bacterial community analyses conducted targeting V4 hypervariable region 16S rRNA gene. Plasma -1 quantified per manufacturers’ instructions a double-antibody RIA kit. Cytokine plasma RayBiotech Quantibody Bovine Array Q1 kit manufacturer’s instructions. Statistical GLM procedure CORR SAS. did differ status (P > 0.05) but decrease from (0.89 vs. 0.08 ± 0.23 ng/mL, respectively; P 0.02). There no significant correlations 0.05). Interferon-alpha (IFNα) positively correlated (r 0.41; 0.01). These results suggest may be relationships several circulating concentrations; therefore, potentially suggesting immunomodulatory activities P4. Overall, alludes having vital role responses. Further investigation local effects tract responses bacterial could provide greater insight into mechanisms improve fertility cattle.

Effects of timed artificial insemination following estrus synchronization in postpartum beef cattle

The objectives of this study were to evaluate estrus response and pregnancy rates resulting from timed artificial insemination (AI) following estrus synchronization using CIDR in postpartum beef cattle. A total of 100 cows were randomly divided into three groups. Groups 1, 2 and 3 were artificially inseminated at 48-50 h (n=30), 53-55 h (n=30) and 58-60 h (n=40) after CIDR removal, respectively...

Synchronization of estrus in suckled beef cows for detected estrus and artificial insemination and timed artificial inseminati

We determined whether a fixed-time AI (TAI) protocol could yield pregnancy rates similar to a protocol requiring detection of estrus, or estrous detection plus TAI, and whether adding a controlled internal device release (CIDR) to GnRH-based protocols would enhance fertility. Estrus was synchronized in 2,598 suckled beef cows at 14 locations, and AI was preceded by 1 of 5 treatments: 1) a CIDR ...

Setting up Cows for First Postpartum Artificial Insemination

A long standing goal of reproductive physiologists was to develop a hormonal synchronization program that could overcome the problems and limitations associated with visual detection of estrus in dairy cattle. This goal was realized in 1995 with the publication of a hormonal synchronization protocol that combined GnRH and PGF2α to control ovarian physiology and is now commonly referred to as th...

Timing of artificial insemination in postpartum beef cows following administration of the CO-Synch + controlled internal drug-release protocol.

This experiment was designed to compare pregnancy rates in postpartum beef cows resulting from fixed-time AI (FTAI) at 54 or 66 h after administration of the CO-Synch + controlled internal drug-release (CIDR) protocol. Cows (n = 851) at 2 locations over 2 yr (yr 1, n = 218 and 206; and yr 2, n = 199 and 228 at the 2 locations, respectively) were stratified by age, BCS, and days postpartum to 1 ...

Delayed insemination of nonestrous cows improves pregnancy rates when using sex-sorted semen in timed artificial insemination of suckled beef cows.

This experiment was designed to test the hypothesis that delayed insemination of nonestrous cows would increase pregnancy rates when using sex-sorted semen in conjunction with fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI). Estrus was synchronized for 656 suckled beef cows with the 7-d CO-Synch + controlled internal drug release (CIDR) protocol (100 μg GnRH + CIDR [1.38 g progesterone] on d 0, 25 mg...
